Meet the Senseis
Welcome to Shobu Kai Karate Academy!
We’re Kathryn and Adam, proud owners and Senseis of the karate school. We opened Shobu Kai with one vision; to guide students to unlocking their potential and achieving personal greatness through the practice of Shotokan Karate. After two years of developing the school, we can honestly say we are doing just that!
Karate is our lives, and we love every bit of it. With years of passion, dedication and experience under our belts, we enjoy nothing more than sharing that with our students; it’s like passing on the best gift life has to offer.
When we aren’t teaching, we both train on Scotland’s National Kata and Kumite teams. We enjoy competing all over the UK and have won a number of titles. Our favourite category will always be Pairs Kata though, where we get to compete side by side!

I started in January and today I got my orange belt, from January till now has been a great journey learning and getting stronger, Sensei Adam Sutherland is a great trainer and even better role model, I am so happy for myself and everyone else that achieved their next belt today.
